About The Practice

Pawsome Vets is based at beautiful, clean, newly-fitted premises, offering spacious consult rooms, state-of-the-art equipment, modern theatres, and welfare-optimised kennels. As a previous GP surgery, the space was the perfect fit for a new, independent, veterinary practice to serve the pets and pet owners of Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, and Kirkby-in-Ashfield.

Sergiu graduated from University of Iasi, in Romania, in July 2015. He inherited his passion for animals from his father, who is a veterinary nurse and animal lover who owns a small holding with many small and large animals. Sergiu’s father gave him the opportunity to grow up near animals and recognise that this was also what he wanted for his future. Soon after graduating as a veterinary surgeon, Sergiu decided to live in the UK, and began working in a mixed practice where he enjoyed treating all domestic species. After spending a couple of years in a mixed practice and developing a passion for surgery, Sergiu decided to focus on small animals. When not at work, Sergiu enjoys spending time with his wife and cycling.

Ali’s career in the veterinary industry began in 2017, initially working for an orthopaedic referral practice and latterly for a first opinion practice, which is the sector she has remained in, working as a receptionist and administrator. Prior to that she had worked in canine hydrotherapy, but her early career was split between the hospitality industry and training roles in the public sector, including Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire County Council. In 2016 she joined some friends in founding the Irish Wolfhound Charitable Trust, the only dedicated, registered Wolfhound charity in the UK, after owning Wolfhounds for several years and wanting to do more to promote and help the breed. Ali’s passion for giant breeds began with her first Neapolitan Mastiff in 1994 and after that things snowballed and she has had the pleasure of owning many of these fabulous dogs and being ‘human slave’ to Neo’s, St Bernards and Irish Wolfhounds. She enjoys various aspects of dog ownership and actively promotes breed health and began showing dogs at championship level in 2004 and has also proudly shown her dogs at Crufts for many years. Ali and her husband spend much of their spare time with their 3 dogs: Albert the St Bernard, Ernie the Bulldog and Onslow the Bulldog puppy.
